Imagine being surrounded by hundreds of massive hot air balloons of all shapes and colors, waiting with anticipation for the balloons to take off into the morning sky. It’s no surprise that the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico is a bucket list item for many, myself included, and I can now say that the event lives up to the hype! Considered one of the most photographed events in the world, it brings folks from near and far to experience the excitement of being in the midst of hundreds of colorful hot air balloons. Keep reading to see a few favorite photos, tips, and things we learned to make the most of your time at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, as well as suggestions for other things to do while visiting Albuquerque.
Are you ready for an outdoor adventure mixed with small-town charm? Then add the town of Jim Thorpe to your Pennsylvania travel list. It tops the list when doing a quick internet search for charming places to visit in Pennsylvania, especially when the vibrant colors of the fall season stand as a backdrop to the historic clock tower. For unexpected pleasures and charm to experience by foot, bicycle, or scenic train, Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, is one of several small towns located in the Pocono Mountain region. It’s perfect for an overnight getaway, with travel time under 4 hours from Northern Virginia. We had time to explore the quaint downtown area and experience nature’s beauty with a bike ride that winds through a portion of the Lehigh River Gorge.
We recently had the chance to ride along a mountain road on an e-bicycle in Northern Italy, the wind in our face and a view of a beautiful Italian lake tucked into the mountain scenery laid out before us. This amazing 3-hour bike tour was one of the memorable activities during our recent vacation, and has me looking to find our next e-bike tour, this time closer to home. With the growing popularity of electric bikes (e-bikes) worldwide, more riders are considering bike tours as a fun way to experience a new place. It’s a chance for everyday cyclists to cover greater distances with less exertion. I, for one, love knowing that I can enjoy a longer bike ride or more challenging terrain without being exhausted and sweaty at the end. However, just because an e-bike makes cycling easier doesn’t necessarily mean it is for everyone. Consider these helpful tips if an e-bike tour is in your future.

If you have read some of my other blogs, you might recall that I have been visiting the Delaware beaches since I was a little girl. Over the years, I have watched the Cape May-Lewes Ferry making its way across the Delaware Bay from Lewes, Delaware, to Cape May, New Jersey. Since 1964, the ferry has been traversing between these two popular beach towns transporting an estimated 17 million vehicles and over 45 million passengers. My mom invited me several times to make a day-trip of it, but regrettably, I never took the opportunity. In her memory, I finally made it happen. Greeted by blue skies and mostly calm waters, it was a special girls day with  friends and family.
